Disability Access Audits for Functional Spaces
Undertaking Disability Access Audits is OHA’s core service. We audit public buildings and facilities, commercial property and open space with reference to:
- Australian Standards
- regulatory codes, and
- the intent of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) as it applies to built form, landscaping and pedestrian zones.
Using a full suite of audit tools and applying our understanding of the functional use of spaces by people with a disability, we assess all technical and compliance requirements of built form and spaces.
OHA’s team understands the limitations of existing built infrastructure. We identify access barriers and areas of non-compliance with legislated documentation and the DDA, creating comprehensive reports with referenced and prioritised recommendations.
Offering disability access audits of refurbished buildings or new projects on completion, OHA provides documentation to certify that buildings meet the functional needs of people with a disability, the Premises Standard and the intent of the DDA.
